The Monster function unlocks at Level 70. It buffs your team and has its own active ability, but it has no basic attack and can't be attacked. You can have one monster active per team at a time. (ie. You'll be using one monster most of the team unless you need to set more than one team such as in Trial of the Champion)

Monster Guide/Which Monster to Pick[]

Phoenix is the best overall starting monster. This is mainly because it kind of a hybrid of both Deer and Wolf. Phoenix deals a decent amount of damage with some burning damage over time and also heals your heroes.

Wolf is still the strongest PvE monster, mainly just for Broken Spaces, because it can deal a ton of damage with the bleed. Wolf is more of an all in PvE monster so that's all it really excels in. Phoenix will help keep your heroes alive and do decent damage while Wolf will only do damage.

The main issue with Deer as a starting monster is that it heals 20% of the heroes total HP and if you're in early/mid game, that 20% will be a lot less than Phoenix's flat heal rate. Deer is a great end game monster all around, but not as good as Phoenix early/mid game.

Dragon is a solid PvP monster throughout the game. Not only does its active have a chance to stun enemies but it also gives your heroes a lot of holy damage. Its passives give crit chance and crit damage.

Phoenix[]

Excellent early/mid game, the best monster overall early/mid game, but may fall off late game. Its passive gives holy damage/crit Damage.

Wolf[]

Good early/mid game PvP, the best monster for PvE, but falls off late game in PvP. Only max out Wolf rune speed if it is your primary monster for PvP otherwise skip it!) Its passive gives armor break/precision.

Dragon[]

Good early/mid/late game PvP with the right heroes (heroes than benefit from its crit/holy damage) Its passive gives crit damage/crit chance.

Deer[]

Ok early/mid game PvP/PvE, the best monster overall late game, especially for GW/Brave Trials/Seal Land (great synergy with Valkyrie, early/mid game deer teams will still probably lose to Phoenix/Wolf teams assuming hero lineups are about the same). Its passive gives armor/block.

Rebirthing Your Monster[]

You get back all monster materials Monster Souls Monster Souls/Chaos Stone Chaos Stones for rebirthing your monster, but you do not get any Gold Gold back. Only rebirth if you can spare the Gold Gold to level up your new monster.

Chaos Stone Chaos Stones are more rare/expensive and might be the bottleneck to maxing out your monster. However, rushing monster level by buying Monster Souls Monster Souls to max monster damage is also a viable option.

TL;DR (For Picking a Monster/How to upgrade)[]

If you DON'T have a full E5 team then Phoenix is the best overall monster

If you HAVE a full E5 team then Deer is the best overall monster

If you WANT both a PvE and PvP monster then go Phoenix

If you built a different monster than these three, rebirth it only if you can spare the Gold Gold then follow the guide above. If you cannot spare the Gold Gold to do a rebirth, then keep your current monster and work towards the monster you decide to build based on the guide above. Remember that having three monsters is crucial for Trial of the Champion.
